Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessment

Avery provides personalized, evidence-based assessments for ASD for children and teens aged 5 to 17 years old. ASD is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that affects individuals in various ways. Symptoms can appear between two and three years of age; however, concerns could become more evident as social demands increase.

ASD is characterized by challenges with nonverbal communication, social communication, and social interaction. A child, adolescent, or young adult with ASD may also display repetitive patterns of behaviours, intense interests in specific topics and/or activities, and challenges with changes in their routines or environments. How these symptoms are presented is unique to each individual, and an ASD assessment can assist in identifying effective treatment strategies. As with most childhood disorders, timely intervention and diagnosis are key for neurodivergent children to receive proper services and support.

The fee for ASD assessment is $1760.

Combined ASD Assessment and Psychoeducational Assessment

A combined ASD and psychoeducational assessment will give your family access to autism services while also helping to prepare for the next steps for your child or teen’s education. Our Combined ASD and Psychoeducational Assessment will allow for the diagnosis of ASD if warranted while also providing valuable information about your child’s cognitive, academic, and everyday functioning to better understand your child’s strengths and challenges.

If your child is between the ages of 5 and 17 years old and you are concerned about their social, communication, behavioural and academic development, you can obtain a combined ASD and Psychoeducational Assessment at Avery.

The Process:

1. Assessment: Our team will conduct a thorough developmental history and an assessment of your child’s cognitive skills, academic skills, adaptive behaviours, and autism symptomatology (e.g., deficits in social-emotional reciprocity, nonverbal communication, repetitive motor movements, inflexible adherence to routines) using standardized measures.

2. Report: We will provide a detailed report, including a diagnostic summary, appropriate next steps, and options for services.

3. Recommendations: You will receive recommendations from the assessment to assist in developing an Individual Education Plan (IEP) at school tailored to your child’s individual learning needs and to access specialized programs.

The fee for a combined ASD and psychoeducational assessment is $3080.
