ADHD Assessment

PROBLEM BEHAVIOURS - not listening when spoken to, not remembering details or instructions, procrastinating, fidgeting, impulsivity, emotional outbursts, difficulty starting and completing schoolwork to name a few - are forms of communication, for better or for worse.

In many cases, it’s the only way your child is able to communicate that they are struggling because of an unmet need.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can often be the source of these problem behaviours…particularly when it is undiagnosed, untreated, and unsupported. The impairment associated with ADHD can significantly impact your child’s functioning at home, at school, and social skills.

This assessment does a deep-dive into your child’s social, emotional, and behavioural functioning, such as executive functions, attention, impulsive and hyperactive behaviours. In some cases, we will also look into your child’s functioning in the areas of mood and anxiety.

Ultimately, this process helps to determine underlying causes of problem behaviours. Even better? You’ll be given a bunch of resources and recommendations to help support your child where they struggle most.

Duration: 2-4 weeks from Initial Intake to Final Debrief

Process:

- Initial Intake with parents (2 hours)

- One assessment session (2 hours) with your child. This usually takes place during the school day, but the benefit of having the assessment done and the detailed information you’ll receive about your child greatly makes-up for time missed at school.

- Final Debrief session (2 hours)

We don’t want costs to be a barrier to your child getting help. Contact Tanya to discuss your options.
